Eurhythmics offers a hands-on approach to music theory in which students explore musical concepts such as meter, tempo, phrasing, form, and dynamics through rhythm games, creative movement, songs, stories, ear training, sight-singing, and improvisation.
Dalcroze Education is a unique and dynamic education in music that uses movement to connect what the ear hears with what the mind knows. Students are brought into the music through personal and physical experience, sequentially feeling, identifying, choosing, vocalizing—finally applying to instruments. Aaron uses songs, stories, and images to set the stage for the students' education not only in music but through the music. Over the course of the year, they will gain familiarity with tempo, melody, rhythm patterns, phrase, and meter—and they will gain confidence in hearing these subjects, feeling them, and improvising with them.
“Thank you for a lovely class again today. You are a master.”
The Dalcroze Method was developed in the early 20th century by the Swiss composer, musician and educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, who believed that rhythm is a vital element of the teaching of music. Known as "music training through movement," Dalcroze uses the body to develop a strong musical foundation and natural feel for music.
